Walk Through the Leasing Journey with Carol Wallace

When looking for a rental home at Piney Ridge Townhomes and Apartments, potential residents are introduced to Resident Success Coordinator Carol Wallace. Having been with the company since September 14, 2009, Carol thoroughly enjoys helping people find their home. “It’s a basic need in life, but it’s so rewarding to help someone through the process,” she shares.

Carol chose to work at Rachuba because of its small company atmosphere and the short commute from her own home. “I’ve stayed at Rachuba for so long because everyone is kind, caring, hardworking, reliable, and trustworthy,” states Carol. “Our team is resilient because of these qualities.”

In her role, Carol is responsible for assisting anyone who walks through the Piney Ridge doors looking for a rental home. “It’s really about understanding their wants and needs,” she shares. “My responsibilities include helping each person navigate the application process and their move. Moving may be overwhelming, but I pride myself on helping them through the process without too much stress.”

For those who wish to pursue a career in leasing and resident success coordination, Carol believes that patience goes a long way. “Working in leasing requires a lot of patience,” she shares. “My favorite Albert Einstein quote is, ‘you never fail until you stop trying’ because it’s all about having the patience to get better and better—that’s important in this industry.”

Another big part of leasing is being trusted with the residents’ experience. Piney Ridge’s staff puts on resident events—which includes everything from brainstorming ideas for new events to executing the final project. At Piney Ridge, typical events include on-site food trucks, virtual or in-office contests, and an annual Christmas event. “The past couple of years we have done our best to present holiday lights like 34th Street in Hampden,” says Carol.  “Last year, we were able to make the event pandemic-friendly by allowing residents to drive through the lights or walk through with social distancing.”

During her time at Piney Ridge, Carol has strived to personally foster an environment that reflects the Rachuba mission. When asked about her favorite Rachuba core value, she shared the following, “Integrity is my favorite because it means that you live in accordance with your deepest values, you’re honest with everyone, and you always keep your word.”

When she’s away from Piney Ridge’s leasing office, you can find Carol spending time with her family, participating in a history adventure, or hard at work on a home design project—her favorite being vintage work.
